THE BIG PICTURE

Understand your Medicare
coverage choices.

Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage are different approaches to coverage. These summaries explain the structure; they do not recommend a plan or confirm what HUGS can offer.

ORIGINAL MEDICARE

Parts A & B

Coverage through the federal Medicare program.

A Hospital insurance
Helps with inpatient hospital care and certain other services.
B Medical insurance
Helps with doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services and medical equipment.

You can generally use doctors and hospitals that accept Medicare. A separate Part D plan can add drug coverage; Medigap may help with certain out-of-pocket costs.

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE

Part C

A Medicare-approved private plan that provides Part A and Part B benefits, usually with Part D drug coverage included.

  • Check the plan’s provider network and service area.
  • Review referrals and prior authorization—approval for certain services before you receive them.
  • Compare costs and any extra benefits using the plan’s current documents.

You still pay the Part B premium and may pay a plan premium. The plan has a yearly out-of-pocket limit for covered Part A and Part B services; the amount depends on the plan.

WITH ORIGINAL MEDICARE

Medigap & Part D

Two separate types of coverage to consider alongside Parts A and B.

Medigap: help with certain costs

Medicare Supplement insurance helps pay certain out-of-pocket costs left by Original Medicare. It does not work with Medicare Advantage.

Part D: prescription drug coverage

Modern Medigap policies do not include prescription drug coverage. A separate Part D plan can provide it; other creditable drug coverage may affect whether and when you need to enroll.

These are separate policies, not one combined plan. Review enrollment timing and any existing coverage with a licensed professional.

Neither approach covers every expense. Look at access to care, coverage rules and total costs together.

YOUR HUGS CONNECTION

How HUGS helps

Make room for the questions that matter.

  1. Start with your priorities.

Identify the Medicare topics you want explained and what matters in your care routine. Keep personal details out of this preview.

  2. Clarify the conversation.

Confirm the licensed professional, the topics you agree to discuss, and any required appointment paperwork and timing before a plan-specific conversation.

  3. Understand the details.

Discuss providers, prescriptions, costs and coverage rules using current plan information. A conversation does not enroll you or change your coverage.

HUGS & OUR PARTNER NETWORK

A personal connection.
Clearly defined choices.

HUGS helps connect Medicare conversations with applicable insurance partners in our existing network. Not every partner shown on this website offers every type of Medicare coverage. Available plans depend on your area, licensing, appointments and active contracts.

HUGS does not administer Medicare. Specific plan participation, benefits and enrollment requirements must be verified before proceeding; this page does not establish eligibility or availability.

Explore Medicare options across our partner network

HUGS can help you prepare questions about Medicare coverage and connect with a licensed professional to explore options across our partner network. Discuss providers, prescriptions, costs and coverage rules before considering a plan.

Available plans through HUGS must be confirmed for your area and coverage needs. Plan documents identify the insurer and govern coverage. HUGS does not determine benefits or enrollment eligibility.

BEFORE WE TALK

A few useful questions.

Use these as conversation prompts—not as a request to submit your information here.

Keep sensitive information private.

Do not enter your Medicare number, Social Security number, health history, prescription details or insurance documents on this page.

  • What care access matters to you?Think about the doctors, hospitals and pharmacies you would want checked.
  • What would you want to compare?Consider premiums, out-of-pocket costs, prescription coverage and plan requirements together.
  • What needs confirming before a change?Ask about enrollment timing and how a change could affect coverage you already have. Do not cancel existing coverage based on this preview.
